Today Marks Another Milestone

Its that time again. Today marks 5 years since I went to Millers Family Eye Care and was told that I likely have Keratoconus.

I regard this as my 5 year anniversary of my unofficial diagnosis as it wasn’t confirmed by a specialist yet. July 11 is when my diagnosis of Keratoconus becomes official.

Time for my Yearly Eye Exam

Today I had my yearly full eye exam. This is something everyone should be doing for the safety of their vision and health. My sclerals are still giving me 20/20.

I expected things to go smoothly this time which it actually did. This would be my first eye exam where I wasn’t surprised with something going on.

In just a week and a half I will be hitting another milestone and shortly after another similar milestone.

Today Makes 4 Years

4 years ago today I had my cornea transplant. I am pleased to report that my cornea graft is going strong still. It doesn’t seem that long ago since I had to get my cornea transplant.

Things have changed a great deal in these 4 years and even had cataract surgery that was likely due to the anti rejection eye drops I had to take.

Overall this seems to still be a thing I don’t regret doing as it was defiantly massively beneficial to have done. I thank the donor family for being able to provide me a cornea to regain my lost vision.

Another Follow Up Another Set Of Sclerals

So today I had my follow up appointment and I found out why I only had good day of vision with this set of sclerals.

It turns out that I was supposed to be inserting these toric sclerals with the dot aligned on the bottom. Something I was aligning to the top.

It turns out that the fit is off and the scleral isnt aligning properly so that’s why my vision isn’t yet perfect like it was with my second set that had way too much clearance.

My Left scleral is almost perfect just a minor tweak and i’ll have half of the set of sclerals perfect so the end goal is in sight!!!

Fifth Time Seems To Be A Charm

Got my Fifth set of sclerals today and so far the perfect vision that I was getting from my first few sets is back.

I get to find out how the rest of the fit is next week on my follow up appointment. The doctor commented that the overall fit seems to be near perfect just the vision issues needed to be corrected and should only expect minor tweaks here and there so hopefully this will be my final set of sclerals for now. At the very least I am on the verge of getting to the final fit.

My Fourth Set Of Sclerals are in

Today I got to pick up my fourth set of sclerals.

So far it seems that I am not getting the vision that the set before my previous set gave me.

This unfortunately means that I am likely to have to go for a fifth set. Hoping that at least I will be getting a better fit this time around as that would mean I’m almost set.

Another Checkup Another Set Of Sclerals

So I had my checkup appointment to see how the third fit of sclerals turned out.

Sadly my right is again too tight and the clearance on my left is a bit much. Still this is to be expected as fitting for sclerals is complicated and people has had to have been through 4-8+ fitting attempts before they managed to get the fit right.

Here’s hoping that the fourth time is the one that is successful

Hit A New Milestone

For the very first time since I started to wear scleral lenses I managed to get both of them in on the first try and without any bubbles to boot.

I have gotten the right scleral in on the first go numerous times. However this is not only the first time that i got my left one in on the first try it is also the first time I got both.

My Replacement Sclerals Have Arrived!

Today I was able to get my replacement sclerals and wear them home. My first set unfortunately fit too tightly and needed to adjust the fit.

The fit seems to be ok so far and will be able to get this confirmed next week. They need to see me after i have worn them a few hours to confirm that its not fitting too tightly.

I hope that the second time does the trick.
